After a week of doing things my employer hired me to do (nothing salacious, so knock it off), I get a certain amount of money, based on how much my effort contributes to his profitability. That's my money. I earned it. I did not bash some poor bag lady over the head and take it. I did not swindle helpless Third World honest peoples out of the deed to their ranch, nor did I charge poor widows usurious rates and hidden fees to put their meager savings in my bank. I performed a service; my employer liked it; I am paid.
So, Schlub takes his pay home and calls his insurance company, saying, "Listen, I would like to take some of the money I legitimately earned and give you a portion of it. In exchange for me freely giving you some of my own money, I would like you to write me a policy covering certain aspects of my medical care." The insurance company, being in the business of writing the policies I seek, agrees. We come to terms. I freely give them my honestly earned money. They give me a policy.
And this is Barney Frank's business, how?
