8th Grade Syndrome

Newt Gingrich was pontificating the other day, as is his wont, about the just completed midterms, giving the Republican party spin that it wasn’t all that bad, got control of the House, yadda yadda, but had to admit the much anticipated ‘red wave’ turned out to be nothing more than a slightly higher tide than usual. Seemed to surprise him and he concluded that maybe, just maybe, he needs to reevaluate his political thinking.

‘Bout time.

It’s been rather clear to those of us not blinded by party and politics that a goodly portion of the American people have reached a fatal level of self-absorption and illogic, what I like to call “8th grade syndrome.” ‘Why can’t we all get along?’ is the central core of their social and cultural stance and they firmly believe material goods and security and recreation are freely and deservedly provided by dufus parents who Just Don’t Understand Me. So, they vote accordingly, for anyone who promises to give them anything for free; against anyone they think is mean i.e., anyone who talks like a dufus parent, i.e., conservatives; and for anyone they feel sorry for, i.e., Fetterman. The result? Over the past twenty years, there has been an increasing Balkanization of the populace, somewhat along the same lines that split the Romans and the Visigoths, with about as much chance of compromise.

Newt and the other Republican party mavens have, of course, missed this. Having moved from one civilized environment to the next - middle class family to middle class college and career - they developed a logical and common-sense view of human behavior. Maslov’s Hierarchy of Needs and western civilization’s inspirations and motivations for family, relevance, and prosperity form the convictions and subsequent voting patterns of the populace. In normal times those are givens and the various political parties set their platforms based on them, the Republicans for an orderly society in which anyone can participate by exertions of their own efforts, the Democrats for more assistance to those who have somehow missed the chance to participate, the one-off lunatic fringe parties for their various single issues, such as the environment or anarchy.

That was then, this is now.

Pocketbook issues and common sense are now only the province of a rapidly dwindling boomer generation, which was the last one raised with individuality, respect, and optimism. We now have the Nietzsche generations ascending, and they have far more loyalty to themselves than they do to social structures. Anything that promotes their own well-being and the advantage of their friends over others has their attention. They are far more akin to the 18th Century aristocracies than they are to the American yeoman class, seeking power and wealth and control over yon peasants who still cling to those outmoded concepts of individual rights and sacrifice and responsibility.

Which is why they vote for Fetterman. Because a brain-dead pseudo-Marxist is far more likely to help install the neo-corporatist state that they feel will bring about the eight-grade world they have long dreamed of than will some fussing farmer boy spouting self-reliance and more police.

Which means, of course, that all former bets are off. So, Newt, and everyone else who still thinks elections will save us, y’all best re-evaluate.

Dear Bill Barr

I had the pleasure of watching Guy Benson’s interview with you discussing your new book, One Damned Thing After Another. It appears to be a very informative and entertaining read. But there are a couple of things you said during the interview that you should address:

1. The Nov 2020 election: you said that Trump “beat himself” apparently by not listening to your advice. Perhaps that is so, but you imply that the 2020 election was legally and legitimately conducted. However, there are anomalies in that election which raise serious questions about its validity. Those include the unconstitutional changing of election procedures by several states, the inexplicable halt of vote counts simultaneously across several precincts, the number of votes exceeding the number of registered voters, the defects of Dominion voting machines, and even video evidence of votes pulled out of hiding spots.

Perhaps all of this can be explained, or perhaps the level of fraud was insufficient to change the outcome of the election. But no one has done anything to establish either take. There has not been one grand jury convened to review the evidence of vote fraud. Not one federal prosecutor has conducted an investigation of vote fraud allegations (except, of course, against President Trump for having the temerity to protest a fraudulent election). Judges have dismissed voter fraud complaints on specious procedural grounds, not on merits of the evidence. Subsequent private or state legislature investigations have uncovered massive evidence of widespread voter fraud at a level that seems to alter the reported outcome. Yet, you did nothing. And you still do nothing.

You remind me of a coroner standing in a crime scene covered with several sets of bloody footprints and several bullet casings, five bullet wounds in the victim’s head, and declaring, “Suicide.”

2. The indictment of James Comey: James Comey used a cutout to transfer classified information out of secure holdings and to a newspaper for the purposes of damaging the newly elected President Trump. At the very least, this is felony mishandling of classified information. Given the intent of the act, it’s treason. You acknowledge Comey’s crime in so many words but say the charges did not meet your standards of proof. Really? I have no doubt that had I, as a captain in the USAF, mishandled classified information in as egregious a manner as Comey did that my conviction would be a slam dunk and I would be serving my 25-year sentence in Leavenworth right now. So I can only presume that it’s collegiality that stayed your hand because you and Comey run in the same elite circles; for lack of a better cliche, you went to the same schools. It is the same principle that sends sergeants and captains to jail, while colonels and generals are simply denied promotion and allowed to retire.

I do not take away from your years of outstanding service, but we have a saying in the Air Force: one ‘aw crap’ wipes out ten thousand ‘attaboys.’ In this case, we have two ‘aw craps,’ the 2020 election and Comey’s skating out of charges. From the latter it is plainly obvious that there is a two tiered justice system in this country, and the average person now has no chance of ever obtaining justice. Indeed, the average person will now be judged with a political standard instead of a legal one. Just check on the Jan 6 prisoners. The average American is, therefore, foolish to rely on the criminal justice system for redress and protection. You may not like that, but you helped create that viewpoint.

And you reinforce my and millions of other voters' conviction that the election was fraudulent, that Biden is not the legitimate president of this country, and that you elites conducted a coup against the US because President Trump wasn’t the smooth and urbane striped-pants effete that you prefer in your politicians. President Trump was the first president since President Reagan to actually punch back at the sneering pseudo-intellectuals who daily insult us peasants. And that’s what we wanted. You didn’t.

Thing is, it would be very easy for you to put our concerns to rest. Arrest Comey. Impanel a grand jury to review the vote evidence. Prove to me that Joe Biden actually won the election. It should be easy. Why won’t you do it?

You are more and more like the dog that did not bark.

It is painful to regard you in this light. When you were first appointed, I was hopeful that an out-of-control Justice Department would be brought to heel. But, in the critical cases, you were wanting. We thought you were George Patton; turns out you're Mark Clark.

The One

So Rubio's out there telling us all to get behind Romney, and the morning show guys and just about everyone else is saying he's the guy so c'mon, Redumblicans, eschew others and jump on the Romneyvan.

No.

Because, Redumblicans, moderates, wonkies, he is not the one we want (by "we," I mean real conservatives, taxpayers, working people). He just isn't. Why?

Because he still holds tender in his heart the concept that government is the answer. Oh, sure, a nicer government, one that reflects conservative American values, rewards hard work and savings, cherishes the family and the individual.

But, still, government management of our lives, our efforts, our prosperity.

And we've had enough of that mindset.

Bring us a candidate who believes in the citizenry, not the Congress, who promotes the individual, not the process, and who considers the Bill of Rights absolutely inviolate and who will not only eliminate Obamacare but Romneycare, Gingrich Care, any and all kinds of government sponsored care and feeding of the masses. That's the candidate we want.

Please.

Infected Toe

WMAL in DC has a morning show hosted by two moderates named Brian and conservative goddess Mary Katherine Ham. She wasn’t there this morning, so the moderates waxed moderately on the unelectability of Rick Santorum who, gosh darn it, just can’t beat Baracula.
Oy.
What the moderii and the rest of the talking heads in Fortress DC don’t get is this: we are not in the middle of an election, we are in the middle of a Civil War. Oh, not a violent one, no Sherman’s March or Gettysburg or anything like that (yet), but one, just the same. This is a fight to the death, NOT an interesting election highlighting subtle differences in policy and political theory.

They don’t know that because all those pundits and pollsters and editors only talk to each other. Just each other. They all go to the same parties, read the same papers, watch the same shows. They do not talk to us, the real people of America. No time for that, you see. Busy.
But Schlub does. Schlub winds his way up and down the byways and alleys and cities of America and engages his fellow citizenry in discussion, and has discovered something very very in'ressin': all those moderates and independents over whom the pundii tremble are going to vote ABO (Anybody But Obama) in November.

So, yes, Mitt Romney is electable, but so is Rick Santorum.
So is an infected toe.

Beachhead

So, Newt took SC. Given his rather excellent debates, one is not surprised. Given that Romney is the choice of Democrats and the Republican Establishment (but I repeat myself), one is not surprised that he went down in flames. Neither Dems nor Redems seem to understand we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore.

Now, as I have previously stated, I am not a Newt fan. But I am less of an Obama fan, and solving a problem like Newt is akin to breaking through the hedgerow country after winning Normandy. Got to get on the beach first, then deal with the later issues.
So, yes, Schlub would vote for Newt, or any other infected toe, over Obama. Job 1 is send the Marxist and his useful idiots back to Chicago. Then we'll see about the hedgerows.

Turned me into a Newt

The Schlub is not a big Newt Gingrich fan. Newt is a consummate DC insider, the kind of person Schlub believes needs a one-way ticket back home. Sure, yes, fine, the man did yeoman service in the 80’s and 90s, something Schlub remembers well and applauded him for, BUT… (and you knew that was coming)…

In all of that, a whiff of overweening pride could be detected.
Newt IS a conservative and a believer in the Constitution, but how much of that is vehicle to larger ambitions is a matter of drawing a random line, and it is these self-aggrandizing professional politicians who have gotten us into our current straits.

But, Schlub, wait a minute! Since when is ambition a poor character trait, and don’t we need overly confident conservatives to face the winds of leftist war? Why, yes, but motivation is key. And Newt loves government, instead of its purposes. What else explains his rather bizarre behavior since leaving Congress? The Nancy Pelosi ad, the attacking of Paul Ryan, the Bain capital stuff…methinks he self-promotes too much.
Oh, no doubt Newt would support governmental reductions and lowerings of taxes and raising of armies, all subjects near and dear to Schlub’s heart, but it is the method and process and functions of government itself which is dear to the Newt, not the ideas themselves. I can do without these people, no matter how much what they say rings a cordant note.

Having said all that, I gotta say, Newt’s handling of that snippy, perpetually whining professional race victim Juan Williams, was just masterful. And a pleasure to behold. And, yes, yes, if Newt becomes the nominee, Schlub will vote for him.
After all, I’d vote for an infected toe instead of Obama.

Puttin' You on Notice

You RINO’s, you RNC members, that is.

I’m sure you noted Rick Santorum’s rather close defeat in Iowa. Depending on which news source you consult, Romney beat him by 8, or 1, vote. That’s it. And what’s NOT being widely reported? Several “independents” (read “Democrats”) voted for Romney in the cauci (18% for Romney, 13% for Santorum, and a whole lotta’em for Paul. Go figure).
Okay, so?
Well, dudes, it means that Tea Party you so smugly have declared dead and over, ain’t. It also means there is a revolution going on, one you refuse to acknowledge. One that will no longer take your John McCain’s and Bob Dole’s, the “business-as-usual” candidates you seem to prefer.
You got rid of Cain, you have eliminated Bachman, and you have all but run Perry out of town. But Santorum remains. And got a helluva lot more votes than you expected.
You should think about that.

Republican Campaign Ad- 2012

The Navy Seals got Osama. Obama just watched.

He also watched as:

a. You lost your job

b. You lost your company

c. Your taxes, gas, insurance, healthcare, food and debt skyrocketed

While:

a. Your dreams

b. Your life’s work

c. and your children’s future, collapsed.

But, give him credit where due…

At least he wasn’t out golfing. This time.

Joe and Mika

Joe Scarborough has been talking up his strategy for increasing Redumblican votes. Looks like he wrote a book about it so, no surprise. Best short hand description? "High ground." Don't call Baracula a Marxist or un-American or a lightweight or anything else that he, you know, is; speak sweetly. Be kind, use dulcet tones, measured responses, showing the maturity and wisdom of the conservatives.

No. No. And no.

There are so many things wrong with Powder Puff Joe's approach well, you can just start anywhere. First of all, Joe, Redumblicans did not lose the election because they came across as meanies who want to kill grandmothers. No, they lost because the Cool Kid was running against the Old Fart. That's it. The whole election came down to Cool. Certainly not substance, or McCain would have been the landslide, not the Prom King. But, when your average voter has the mentality of a high school sophomore, the captain of the football team is going to beat the captain of the chess club.

Second, Dumbocrats won because they came across as meanies who want to kill your grandmother. Huh? What? Well, yeah, they did. They had… oh, what's the word?…oh yeah, passion. Emotion . Conviction. Screaming fits of spittle-driven vitriol of the most egregiously unfair and libelous accusations, you know, "Bush Lied People Died." And what did we do in response? Spoke sweetly, were unoffended, were dulceted, turned the other cheek, kept a hold of that high ground, yessir, we sure did. And you know what happens when you act sweet and measured and dulceted in the face of a rabid attack? You give credibility to the lie. You don't look noble and adult while wiping the spittle from your face, and trying to quote Burke. You look like an idiot. You look like you're covering.

You look weak.

See, Joel, if you don't feel passionate enough about your principles to fling spittle for spittle, questioning the IQ and lineage of your unworthy opponents, ready at any moment to tear their eyes out, then your principles don't mean squat. You just want to stay in power, have that office in the Dirksen building, ride the tram, just happy to be there, too spineless and lily livered to actually take a stand. And since the Redumblicans were nothing but Dumbocrat-lite the previous eight years, they didn't really have any stands to take, did they?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the press won’t give us a break. News flash, that. Here's another one- we don't need the press. The only people that watch and listen to the NBC's are the people who will never vote for a conservative ever, even if it meant a new car. So who cares what they say? See, the ones who are waiting for Redumblicans to grow a pair are the ones listening to you, Joe. And as long as it remains up inside the body, then we're not going to vote for your McCain's or Romney's or Grahams or whatever other pseudo-conservative you dangle in front. And if you lose us, you dang sure ain't gonna pick up the American Idol crowd.

And, oh yes, what were the prevailing tactics of the last eight years, hmm? Spittle throwing, right? And which side won the election in a landslide?

Riiiight. You're catching on.

Breaking news

Scientists today announced indications of a spine among the Redumblicans. It's too early to tell whether the spine is an actual artifact or an anomaly. Scientists will have a better idea when the manifesting event moves into another chamber housing a higher class of the species.

According to one research group, there has been past evidence of such a spine, notably in the 80's and the early 90's. However, the spine seems to retract whenever Redumblicans manifest a majority population. They then take on a subservient role to their cousins, the Dumbocrats. One researcher theorized Redumblicans feel more comfortable when their direct societal role is diminished, thereby allowing the free growth of back cartilage without a direct challenge to the more vicious Dumbocrats.

Whether the spine will actually become permanent remains to be seen.

Misdirection

Been seein' some giddiness here and there over Lenin's cabinet picks. Some Repub pundits have been downright oo-ing and aahing: Why, these people are moderates! Clintonistas with a pragmatic bent! We might be okay!

Get a hold of yourselves.

Have you forgotten how bad the Clinton era was? Remember wholesale evisceration of the military and intelligence services, treasonous giving of missile technology to China, high taxes, Elian Gonzales? That was these guys.

Also, cabinet picks an administration does not make. Pres-elec Hopeychange is still a hard core Marxist bent on making the Bill of Rights his personal toilet paper. You think Commerce Secretary Richardson is going to divert him?

No, he just gives cover.

Wake. The Hell. Up.

Get. A. Clue

So the Redumblicans are out crying in the wilderness, rending clothes and hair, keening their losses and wondering "Why? Why?" Conference here, conference there, some naval gazing, and presto, solutions abound- "We need to appeal to the young!" "We need to attract the moderates!" "We need a bigger tent!"

Oy.

The only thing you "need" is a gigantic boot up the bum. Maybe that will jar your memory, wake you up a bit, remind you of something- you're the last bastion of conservatism. You're the only place left where conservatives, dying as we are by the millions, have a voice. And in case you've forgotten (which, it seems you have) let me remind you what conservatism is:

a. The individual has primacy over the state

b. Rights derive from God, not society, and

c. Natural law is the only judicial measure.

Try that. Try espousing that. You know what will happen? All those young, black, Hispanic, gay and moderate whatevers will flock to you. 'Cause everyone wants to be an American. Not a demographic.
